Why am I doing this?

The rationale behind this survey is curiosity. No more... no less. This is not a commercial site, so I am not trying to sell you anything or take your money, nor will there be any annoying popups or cookies placed on your PC. I hate those things too. I will not record any identifying data that will make you known to me personally, unless you wish to identify yourself to me. I will not be saving the individual data.
Rather, I will take what I get and enter it into a database so that I can perform a few calculations and draw a few graphs and make a few generalizations. Then I will dump the data in the trash. I know, we all hate generalizations, but we all make them every day and some are down right interesting. I have been involved with online woodworking for many years and there are just some questions I would love to ask for my own edification. There are quite a few, so rather than just post the questions, I thought a survey would be better.
So, am I going to keep all of this to myself? Surely not. I am sure you have the same curious nature I have so I took the data, processed it, then posted it back here for the world to see. What is the point in keeping it to myself? Rest assured, any data you provide will NEVER be sold, traded, or given away to anyone, anywhere, at any time. I just thought you might like to know the answers to some of these questions too.
