This is what I mean when I don't use plans. You develop a repertoire of joints nad select the best ones for the job. There are hundreds of ways to do things, so just master what you need to satisfy yourself.

Not that I was disappointed in the book itself, but I did notice that many of the photographs have been recycled into newer Taunton books. I am beginning to wonder if I will continue buying anything from Taunton - their stuff is really going downhill.

It has great ideas on methods of carrying tools and materials to the jobsite, and some great storage ideas. My tool case project came from an article in this book.

Woodworking Plans ISBN - 0316004545 I paid $22.95 181 pages Cover - PB	I rate it: I built the workbench from this as soon as it came out and I am still using it some 12 or 13 years later (it does need some tightening up). One of my favorite books if for no other reason than Norm elevated my woodworking from something I did to something I loved.

I don't really build any of his projects but again it is another method to consider when deciding on joinery. I like the utility of many of his pieces, but I do tweak the styles and many design features.

ISBN - 048622886X I paid $6.95 127 pages Cover - PB	I rate it: This is an excellent, annotated version of the 1568 classic. Incredibly interesting, when you look at the illustrations look carefully and you will have a real window into the past.

I really like his own version of a router table. I wanted to rebuild my TS outfeed anyway, now I am just going to copy his router table and incorporate the characteristics of an outfeed table.

The second edition, which I also have, is a marked improvement, if that is possible. It is also the only reason this version is rated as less than a 10. If you don't have it already, get the new one.

Woodworking ISBN - 1561581178 I paid $19.95 136 pages Cover - PB	I rate it: This book, and I recommend you get the accompanying video also from Taunton, are just what I needed to learn how to turn things like knobs, spindles and quarter columns. I have never really been big into turning bowls, but furniture parts are of great interest to me.

I bought it to help me with my cyclone project and it was a great help. The solerding section was a little weak, but the book did the trick. No index didn't help though.

I bought it for the discussion of the cyclone separator and I found that section to be weak.

Woodworking ISBN - 1561580414 I paid $25.95 199 pages Cover - PB	I rate it: I use to believe this was the most underrated, unknown classic how-to manual produced. It was the first book I found that explained the importance of, and provided instruction in making lumber four-square. For that I am grateful but the more I look back the less I like some of the other techniques.

Woodworking Plans ISBN - 1892836149 I paid $22.95 144 pages Cover - PB	I rate it: I am really inpressed by the books I see coming out of Cambium. This is a great book for anyone interested in building Craftsman style furniture. There are lots of insights into the joinery used. Look out, Taunton!

I thought it was a little skimpy in some areas though; for example, I find the cabinet scraper section to be light.
