What People Are Saying About inthewoodshop

My smile beams from ear to ear when I receive an email from someone that enjoyed or otherwise got some use out of my website. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those who were kind enough to send me some mail and tell me about their experiences. I hope you don't mind me sharing your lovely comments with my good readers, anonymously of course. Here are just some of the nice things people are saying about inthewoodshop.org:

Tony Morrison, a woodworker from Ontario, sent me the nicest letter an a picture of a project he completed after reading about one of my sign projects. I wanted to post the letter and the picture but I didn't want to cut it up. Click here to read the entire letter and see the picture of the lovely sign that Tony carved.

Nice website. I found it by a link to my book on your Woodworkers Reading List. Thanks for the plug. ... I felt your website was like the kid that gets 100 on his paper but forgot to write his name on it. Maybe this is by design?
With best regards,
Ernie Conover

When I received this email, I wasn't listed in the DMOZ or other search engines and I didn't really include my name in the masthead or anywhere else. Yes, Ernie, I suppose it was by design but a lot has changed since then, hasn't it?

Thanks for helping to spread the word on table saw safety. I put a link to your splitter page on my web site.
Peace,
Kelly Mehler

... I visited your site. VERY NICE AND VERY INFORMATIVE! ...

... just spent about 10 minutes running through your website - it's well done, and more important, well written! I've got it bookmarked for further reading!

I took the liberty of reviewing your web site and I was impressed... I liked your approach.

... thank you so much for the advice... I really just wanted to say thank you for your time and trouble. You seem like a wonderful communicator, and therefore must be a wonderful teacher.
Leigh

I just accidentally found your site as a link from Woodworker's Journal and I've only spent a few minutes there... I'm going back to your site to see what other thought-provoking information I might find. I really like the layout - very professional - even if you don't want to be. Your website is one of the best - full of information as well as inspiration. Keep up the good work.
Fred

Just wanted to say that I saw your web site and found the tips for beginning woodworkers excellent.
Tom

Great site, good photos, chilling stories (ie. the story of my thumb).
Thanks,
Kevin

I appreciate you sharing your shop and commend you on your web design also. I have been removed from woodworking for quite sometime and hope to eventually create a shop. I am bookmarking your site as a reference or goal if you will.
Thanks again,
David

... thanks for the great website. I find it very informative.
Cheers!
Brent

Great site (as I've mentioned before on the wreck)!!!
Cheers!
Andy

Thanks for taking the time to help me find the newsgroup. BTW - your web site is nice. Lots of great links and information.
Jolly

Though I've just scratched the surface exploring your site I've found all kinds of useful information presented in an understandable form. There are perhaps a handful of sites with this much valuable information so I really appreciate what you've done. I'm sure I'll continue to explore your site for many hours to come.
Thanks
Charlie

Just copied your entire article on "Milling Stock Four Square". It was terrific. I had had this in a school course about 6 months ago but this was a really great recap and enabled me to make a hard copy for future reference.

Just wanted to say a sincere thank you.

I am new at this and sites like yours (which are rare) make all the difference. Please be assured that your work does indeed produce real dividends. Hopefully, the old saying of what goes around comes around will prove true for you.

Take care and be well.

Regards,
Mike

I googled "Best Jointer" and your page was #3 on the list. Great article ... I will definitely refer your site to anyone who asks. Nice work. Thanks for the review.
David

As a beginner (if just now learning how to drill a straight hole qualifies as beginner *S*) I am so impressed with your site. Wood is quickly becoming my passion at the good ol' age of 50. As an accountant this gives me some creative relief, and I am sure that I will enjoy it for the remainder of my life. Just reading some of your articles and comments, suggestions, etc is very inspiring. I used to want to be like "Norm" Abrams, but I think he may have been replaced by you!! Thanks for a wonderful site.
Keep up the good work.
Norm

I've had your site bookmarked for quite a while but my interest jumps from WWing to other things frequently. Spent a little time today making sure inthewoodshop.org was worthy of a bookmark and the answer is definitely YES! Great content and good layout/navigation. While I am not a true galoot, don't think I'll ever have a reason to use a bit and brace, I am not a Normite either ($$$ and space). I like that you repeatedly mention that things can be accomplished in lots of ways, power or by hand.
Again, great site.
Mike

Thanks so much for your wonderful site which I have been using for the past few months. Your writing style is wonderful as are your openess and honesty, in total a wonderful experience. With reference to your table saw mishap ... thanks so much for sharing what must have been a very painful experience and rest assured that my guard will stay on the saw.
Geary

Just wanted to say that I appreciate your site - especially the Walnut Wall Cupboard! You have inspired me to get woodworking... Thanks!
Geoff

I recently came across your web site and have enjoyed poking around on it. Its one of the best woodworking web sites I have found. As a developing woodworker, I like the fact that you didn't go for a lot of bells and whistles, just straight up clear information.
Thanks,
Jeff

I had found your website long ago and looked it over, it was great and entertaining. Today, bored, I went through organizing my favorite links into something manageable and I once again found your site. But this time, I noticed some new areas ... Just wanted to compliment you on your site and say hi.
Best Regards,
Bill

I just finished visiting your website. I really enjoyed your personal, honest narratives. ... I just wanted to thank you for your website. I will check it from time to time to read more of your interesting articles on woodworking. Also, I really loved your carved sign and the mahogany boxes.
Cecilia

Thanks for your wonderful site. I'm a beginning woodworker and find much valuable information there.
Thanks,
Jake

... good going on this project. This is a needed web page.
Herman

Just thought I'd drop you a line letting you know that I have found your "In The Woodshop" website both entertaining and informative.
Thanks,
Dan

I searched for some time before I found someone who had the "shop layout software" I had used and somehow deleted. I had the layout files, but no software, and the site is still not working. Your download worked fine. Thanks for taking the time to put it on your site. Your comments on building a new shop also helped. I am moving to a three car garage, but will only heat a 16x24 section for my shop. The other two bays could help with storage if needed. Normally I never write, but I just wanted to thank you.
Regards,
Jim

I stumbled upon your website following a link posted on the wreck. I'd like to commend you on the great job you've done with it. Lots of useful information and entertainment with a clean design. I like the idea of keeping records of all projects (I know in the back of my mind that this is important for _everything_ in life but it's something that never seems to get done). Anyway, thanks for sharing your w.w.ing experiences.
Good woodworking to you,
Mike

Thank you for adding the story of fixing your daughter's bike to your web page. Stories like this really point out the spirit of the holidays and how helping someone else has benefits that can't be measured. It made me feel good just reading it and for that I'd like to say "Thank you".
Happy Holidays,
Greg

Thanks for comments on shoe polish. I feel a little better after hearing this. Went to your website and your sign you made is great. (Great site all around) Other work is super too. Really enjoyed looking at all your stuff. Like going to your shop and havin a little visit with ya. ....just no cold beer.
Rick

I stumbled across your web site after doing a search on Google to get some info on craft show booths. Your site is great. It has a lot of useful information. I just read the article about your thumb -- thanks for sharing it as I am now motivated to go buy a proper blade guard for my table saw. I have a Delta table saw and the stock guard/splitter was so poor that I felt it was more dangerous to use it. I will do some research and see if there is a better guard.

Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks for putting the effort into the web site. I have just started going through it but was compelled to send a note. ... I will continue to read on through the site.

Thanks again,
Burt

I'd like to compliment you on your web site. It's the sort of site that I add to my browser's 'favorites' list.
Thanks,
John

You have put together an exceptional web site. I find it very easy to read your pages online, unlike most websites. You have put much thought into laying out all your pages and made them easy to download. If you have not received any awards for this site, you should. Just thought you might like to hear some positive feedback. ... Thanks for your time. Again, keep up the good work on your web site.
Jay

I have just found your website regarding treadle lathes. Very interesting and obviously a lot of work in research. Thanks again for the interesting website. I enjoyed it!
Sincerely,
Michael

I just found your web site and really like (LOVE) it. I plan to come back to it so I can enjoy ALL your work you have put into it. I am very happy that there are people like you - that will share their expertise with others. Thank you very much for your web site.
Sincerely,
Gary

I really like your site. ... I'm just starting out in the world of woodworking, and found your site informative and fun... I also happened to read your "thumb story" after using my table saw without a guard and saying to myself "I really should find that guard..." Well, I did.
Thanks,
David

I’ve enjoyed visiting your site and after reading your reviews on some of the books out there, I decided on "The Basics of Craftsmanship: Key Advice on Every Aspect of Woodworking (Essentials of Woodworking)" and "Tage Frid Teaches Woodworking 1&2: A Step-By-Step Guidebook to Essential Woodworking Technique". Thanks for the steering. Now I am looking for hands-on experience as well ...
Thanks,
Brad

Thanks for your well-organized website! I was just surfing around trying to find a plan/directions for making a convertible ladder-chair. I thought maybe you would have an idea right away ...
Thanks!
A.

I would just like to thank you for your "common sense" approach to buying tools. ... Your article really confirms the approach that I am taking in purchasing tools. ... Thanks for the article!
Regards,
Dave

Superb site. Can you suggest ...
Many thanks,
Noel

Thanks! I am learning a LOT from your site; I've just been quite surprised at how to calculate board feet! Whew, glad I found out about that now. ... Thanks again for a great site.
Bill
