A Solid Wood Primer
Every woodworker spends time learning and researching the tools of the trade. It is only natural to want to understand how to use them effectively. However, it is equally important to understand the medium through which we, as woodworkers, express ourselves.
In an effort to help others in this endeavour I wrote an article that was meant to answer the big quetions most woodworkers have about solid lumber. Watch for hyperlinks to diagrams, photos and other pages and use the orange navigation buttons to negotiate your way through. By hitting index you will be returned back here but you can always hit Menu on the main navigation bar at the top of the page to escape.
This article is meant to be read sequentially but I have broken it down into chapters to help you find topics for which you are seeking answers more quickly. Clicking on the back and forward arrows will take you to the previous or next logical topic. Enjoy.

- Tree Anatomy and Growth
