Setting Some Parameters
Although illustrated, I will do a lot of talking about East Walls and South Corners and such. It is probably best to set the stage now before I become inundated with emails from the confused.
Take a look at this diagram. It shows the orientation of the house and garage, uh… shop, and pay close attention to the compass arrow. Each corner of the structure coincides with one of the principle points on the compass. Thus it has become a convention to refer to each corner as the North corner or the West corner, or what have you. By extension, the wall between the East corner and the South corner becomes the Southeast wall and so on.
This diagram is indicative of the format you will see on all the floor plans in this article. (The layouts were made using Easyshop Shop Designer which can be downloaded here.) I include it so you can make the connection between the orientation on the previous diagram and the orientation on the following floor plans. If you become confused, and the way I write you probably will, simply refer back to these two diagrams to help set you straight.
