The Last Chapter

I spent a great deal of time at the lathe in the last year in my little woodshop. After taking some classes and practicing, I decided I didn’t have the gear to sharpen turning tools properly. I purchased a Varigrind jig and ten inch grinder to accompany the little six inch model I had used for years. About the same time, my darling wife bought me a Tormek as a gift; I think she just wanted her scissors sharpened. The ten inch grinder required a new base that was constructed from four by fours and plywood and it was placed between the back bench and the dust collector. The Tormek, along with some upgrades to my sharpening station, ate up enough room on top of the back bench that my mortiser was exiled to the floor underneath.

In that same West corner, I also managed to squeeze a Hegner scroll saw – crammed between the seldom-used-tools cart and the dust collector. The saw was a steal. Unfortunately, the space it took up came at a premium and that was the root of the problem I faced in the last few months before moving. My shop became too small but I never had the opportunity to deal with it.
